Academy Program

The Academy Program spans 42 weeks starting in October and runs through to the end of July with scheduled breaks in December,  March and August.  The emphasis of the Academy Program is to develop game intelligent players who can add value to any team.
The Academy Program offers a consistent training schedule as well as opportunities to play internally in a variety of game settings.
Our groups remain fluid to enable athletes to train and play at their current technical level rather than being locked into one team or group for an entire season based on their chronological age.
We strive to be honest, open and ethical and provide opportunities for each player to achieve their potential.Octo

Academy FAQ's

What is the difference between my community club and an academy?

The primary difference is the standards we require for our coaches and our focus on teaching and development. The mandate of a community club is to provide services to accommodate the entire soccer community. They are expected to provide programs for all levels of ability and are accountable to the entire soccer community. They are typically driven by a volunteer board members made up of well-intentioned but generally inexperienced parent volunteers. Our mandate is to provide every player in our Academy with the same high quality soccer experience and education. In order to achieve this, we limit the number of spaces available.

What ages do you accept?

We currently accept athletes ages 5 to 12 years old into our Academy Program.  5 to 7 year-olds will start out in the Academy Prep Program where they will focus on development of technical skills so they are able to follow the Academy training curriculum.  Athletes are moved up into the Academy Program as soon as they are ready.

How many athletes do you take on each team?

We are able to field multiple teams in each age group, depending on interest.  Average team size is 12 athletes.

What are the qualifications of your instructors?

Our instructors are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada or equivalent.  All of our instructors also have First-Aid training and are required to have a police check before joining the Academy.  Both the First-Aid training and police check are reviewed on a yearly basis to ensure top safety for all of our athletes.
